About the M2A2 ODS Infantry Fighting Vehicle
Production of the M2 Infantry Fighting Vehicles began in 1980. Based on operations in the Gulf War in 1991, a further improved M2A2 ODS (Operation Desert Storm) was later developed in 1996. The M2A2 ODS featured the latest in electronics, including a laser range finder, missile countermeasure device, GPS and digital compass antenna sensor.
After friendly fire incidents in the Gulf War, a CIP (Combat Identification Panel) was developed and attached to the sides and the rear of the M2A2 ODS. In March 2003, M2A2 ODS units attached to the 3rd Armored Infantry Division were at the front line in the Iraq War.

Tamiya presents a plastic assembly kit for the M2A2 ODS Infantry Fighting Vehicle, a vehicle that in March 2003, was used on the front line in Iraq supporting the 3rd Armored Infantry Division as they pushed there way to Baghdad. The kit comes fully equipped with extra attachments to accurately replicate the real vehicle.

Accurate replication of the unique characteristics of the M2A2 ODS including laser range finder and GPS antenna located above the cannon. 2 half-figures of the commander and gunner in the latest interceptor body armor. A choice of two types of 25mm cannons.
 
Combat Identification Panels (CIP), the latest friend and foe recognition device to prevent friendly attack, are attached to the external part of the vehicle. Kit comes complete with attachments such as large and small alice packs, sleeping mat, and sleeping bags.
 
Careful reproduction of the latest changes to the external part of the vehicle including the box exhaust.
 
The M2A2 ODS operational during the Iraq War was fitted with CIP on the rear as well as on the sides of the vehicle. The sensor attached next to the light is an example of some extra attachments and attention to the finest details.
 
The tracks utilize brand new highly durable track pads.
 

NATO Version also Possible
Apart from decals for the vehicles deployed in the Iraq War, 3 sets of decals to replicate NATO vehicles, such as those deployed to the Kosovo conflict, are also included in the kit. To accurately replicate the NATO vehicles we recommend using Tamiya's NATO Green, NATO Brown and NATO Black colors.
