About the M1A2 Abrams
The M1 Abrams, officially commissioned by the US military in 1980, was designed totally different from previous post-WWII US military tanks. Although fitted with the same 105mm cannon as the M60, the M1 was powered by a gas turbine engine and was fitted with spaced armor. Planned to be commissioned by the US military over a long period, the M1 was designed with future reforms in mind. In 1984, the M1A1 was developed with a 120mm smooth bore cannon, and a further variant the M1A1HA was later developed featuring depleted uranium armor.

The Humvee was designed for durability, superior off-road handling, and versatility. The first Humvee deployed by the US Military in 1985 featured many different variations including a cargo or troop transport vehicle, armament carrier, and a rescue vehicle. The M1046 featured a self-recovery winch in the front, reinforced doors and a TOW anti-tank missile launcher mounted on the roof. TOW is an easy to operate advanced anti-tank missile launcher that has been deployed in over 40 countries since 1970.

Design of the M48 series of medium tanks commenced in October 1950, with the Chrysler Corporation commissioned to do the design work and provide six prototypes. Due to the Korean war, production of the M48 was authorized prior to the completion of any prototype or testing. Ford and General Motors were awarded production contracts, in addition to Chrysler, and the first M48 was delivered in early 1953.
