About the Peugeot 307 WRC Monte Carlo 2005
Introduced at the 2003 Frankfurt Motor Show, the Peugeot 307 took over from the 206 in World Rally Championship racing in 2004. Based on the high-end 307 CC (Coupe-Cabriolet) version, but with fixed roof and front, transverse-mounted 2.0 liter 300hp engine, Peugeot has produced a worthy successor to triple world champion 206. A notable difference with the 206 is the rear, transverse-mounted 5-speed gearbox, in contrast with the 206�fs longitudinal one.

About the Subaru Impreza 2005 Monte Carlo Rally
For the 2005 WRC Monte Carlo Rally, the Subaru team entered the upgraded Subaru Impreza as used in the latter half of the 2004 season. Despite suffering brake troubles, 2003 champion Petter Solberg was able to keep up with the leaders after the first 2 days. On the final day he recorded the fastest times in the first 2 stages to climb up to 3rd place, before being forced to retire after a heavy crash in the snow. Although unlucky in the first race of the season, Solberg and the Subaru team were able to quickly forget the disappointment of Monte Carlo, taking victory in round 2 in Sweden, proving Solberg and the Impreza have what it takes to win the WRC crown back.

For the 2001 season, the focus of improvements revolved mainly around the engine. The 2-liter, 4-cylinder engine was given a longer stroke and several changes were made to the exhaust manifold.

About the Peugeot 206 WRC
Peugeot's two white and blue machines stirred up the 6th race of the 1999 World Rally Championships (WRC), the Tour de Corse, recording the top time at SS2 and second best time from SS3 through SS6. Although machine trouble kept them from taking top finishes, they did succeed in demonstrating the nimble speed of Peugeot's long awaited rally competitor, the 206 WRC, when they raced to the championship for two years straight with the 205 T16.
